Finance Montréal launches the sixth edition of the Canada FinTech Forum with a conference featuring Janet Yellen
Ten finalists will compete in the Start-up Pitch Contest for $230,000 in prizes
Montréal, Quebec, October 9, 2018– The Canada FinTech Forum, the most important event of its kind in the country, will take place from October 29 to 31 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. More than 70 speakers will be there to discuss this year’s theme, “Open Innovation in Financial Services”. A conference featuring Janet Yellen, who served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, will kick off the event on the evening of October 29.
Honorary president of the 2018 Canada FinTech Forum, Paul Desmarais III, Senior Vice-President of Power Corporation of Canada, will also be speaking during the event. “The Canada FinTech Forum is an essential event in the financial technology sector. The FinTech Start-up Pitch Contest will give ten finalists the opportunity to present their innovative solutions to the financial services community, as well as to investors with close to a total of $1 billion in assets under management. The contest winners will share $ 230,000 in prizes, including a $15,000 public’s choice prize offered by Mackenzie Investments, a $15,000 in-kind communication services prize offered by Edelman Montreal, two Jury prizes of $25,000 each offered by Finance Montréal, as well as a $150,000 financing offer from Luge Capital.
This year, the contest selection committee received nearly 120 applications from all over the world, up 300% compared with last year. The following ten start-ups are the finalists: Cinchy, CreditScript, Fligoo, Goose Insurance, Lendified Technologies, Nesto, OWL.CO, QuantCube Technology, Senso.ai and Symend.
Of course, technology will be front and center at the Forum, in the Deloitte Techno Zone, a one-of-a-kind immersive exhibition space where visitors can discover and interact with the most recent financial innovations.
For the first time this year, Finance Montréal, in collaboration with the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship, is giving participants the opportunity to sign up for a unique on AI in financial services combining online training with a physical seminar during the FinTech Forum.
