Finance Montréal, through its Sustainable Finance Initiative (FSI), and supported by Quebec’s responsible finance ecosystem, is launching the Sustainable Finance Summit.
This first edition, which will be held from October 4 to 8, 2021 in Montreal, will symbolically host the North America Regional Roundtable for UNEP FI, a partnership between the UN and the global financial sector to mobilize private sector finance for sustainable development.
Free and 100% virtual, the Summit offers a privileged platform to explore emerging issues in the field of sustainable finance and bring together investment, banking and insurance practitioners, academics, policymakers and civil society representatives. The Summit will play an important role in highlighting innovative and cutting-edge trends in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, and deepen insight into leading market practice in areas such as financing the net zero transition, Sustainable Development Goals, climate risks as well as diversity, inclusion and the just transition. The events will also cover topics related to natural capital, biodiversity, innovation, technology, and skills in the finance sector whilst bringing together UNEP FI members and main stakeholders in finance in Quebec and internationally.
"Finance Montréal and its partners are very happy to host the UNEP FI Regional Roundtable for North America to create a unique place to share knowledge and expertise during this first Summit. It is also an immense source of pride for us that this recognized organization chose Montreal and Quebec as a meeting place for sustainable finance issues. Thanks to this collaboration, our ambition to position the province as a major center of excellence and innovation on sustainable finance issues in North America by 2030 is well on the way to being realized. » Jacques Deforges, Chief Executive Officer, Finance Montreal
